Thanks...I notice that Bill Clinton pointing out that when people are complaining about the economy, telling them that everything is fine (the equivalent of Harold Macmillan and 'You've never had it so good') rarely works!
On the X v Y thing, I think there is a lot of mileage in the study of where their priorities now are and a function of their characteristics. Hard work, independence, skepticism etc.
